What's the Free Press?

The Four Corners Free Press is an alternative paper with a difference — real substance. Every month, we sink our teeth into meaty topics, providing in-depth, comprehensive news stories on important local and regional issues that affect our readers. Our news coverage is balanced and thorough, with articles by award-winning, experienced journalists who are familiar with the community and region.

In addition, we feature the liveliest opinion section in the Four Corners, with a variety of columnists writing everything from serious political commentary to humor.
 
The Four Corners Free Press also offers a comprehensive Arts & Entertainment section to tell our readers what’s going on in the Four Corners. We offer feature articles, reviews of books, music and movies, and calendars of cultural events, live music, and other happenings. Our events calendar is also available on this web site.

The Four Corners Free Press is published on the 1st of each month. Based in Montezuma County, we are distributed throughout the Four Corners, from Rico, Colo., to Farmington, N.M., and from Durango, Colo., to Moab, Utah. Our readers tell us they read each copy from cover to cover and frequently pass it on to friends and family.

Letters to the Editor

The Four Corners Free Press welcomes letters and guest columns. We have no pre-set word length, but columns are generally 700-800 words. We reserve the right to trim columns and letters submitted to us as needed. If major trimming is required, we'll contact the writer first.

We will not publish anything libelous or obscene.

Letters and columns may be submitted by mail to Four Corners Free Press, 10 W. Main, Suite 106, Cortez, CO  81321, or by e-mail at freepress@fone.net. Please provide a signature and a phone number so we can verify your identity. Anonymous letters will not be published unless arrangements are made with the editor and circumstances justify withholding the writer’s name.

Advertise with us

One ad in the Four Corners Free Press lasts a whole month. We are published on the 1st of each month and distributed throughout the Four Corners area, including Southwest Colorado, northern New Mexico, and southeastern Utah. Our circulation is 2,400.

Our deadline for advertising is the 25th of each month. We provide a full range of graphic design and layout services with our artist and designer, Ginnie Dunlop. Please call her at 970-394-8002 with any questions.

Digital files are accepted on CD, or via e-mail at freepress@fone.net as PDFs, Word documents, and Quark documents.

Negatives, prints and digitally formatted photos (tifs scanned at 150 dpi) are accepted for photos for ads.

Classified ads

The Free Press offers a classified section. Ads are FREE to our subscribers. Ads for non-commercial items and services are $5 for the first 25 words, 10 cents per word thereafter. Classified ads offering commercial and/or professional services are $20 apiece. Public notices for governmental agencies are $20 apiece.
